Katie Grottenthaler is the creative force and owner of KG Design LLC. She is a detail-oriented Designer and Artist. During childhood, her family lived in the Philippines, Nairobi, Kenya, and Alice Springs, Australia which fostered a zest for traveling and an interest in other cultures.

Being a creative child, Katie was always involved in dance, music, and art. After earning a BFA in Fine Art with Education Certification, she became an Art Teacher at Hickory High School. She then furthered her education with a master’s degree in Interior Design from VCU.

She now runs her own design company that focuses on graphic and interior design. Along with design, she is an accomplished Artist and has painted several murals in the Richmond and Ashland area, including a large exhibit at the VA State Fair and the Steampunk Train Mural at 109 England St, Ashland.

Along with art and design, Katie enjoys playing music with her band The Lonely Teardrops. Katie will be bringing her education, skill and talent to XtraSuite Salon Studios by hosting PMS (Paint, Massage, and Sip) classes in this new amazing space in Ashland, VA.

Our paint and sip events come with added enjoyment! Not only do attendees get to unwind with painting and refreshments, but we add access to all of our therapeutic massage chairs; hence the 'M' in 'PMS' for paint, massage, and sip. And that has been such a hit with our attendees! In fact, when surveyed, 100% of attendees said that their time in the massage chair was one of the best activies of the event.

To top off all of the other fun activies during the event, we've added our selfie photo booth located in our green room that we call Studio 14.

Attendees can take photos with their finished project, with other attendees, and with the instructor if they so choose.
